a Building grant of dollar for dollar, to the extent of twenty thousand dollars (820,000) the limit of the sum which the resources of the London Missionary Society will enable it to allot for the purpose of the new building on the site immediately adjacent to the present school.

When this part of the plan has been carried out,

at a cost of forty thousand dollars(340,000) approximately, it is proposed to take down the old building and proceed to erect the remaining portion needed to complete the plm for a School which, it is hoped will provide for the needs of Higher Education for Girls, under the auspices of this Mission for

many years.

For your further information the following statement is submitted. On the matters of fact sought to be embodied, this Mission would approach the Government in support of the request now made for a Building Grant.

(1) This School (Vernacular) has a properly constituted Kinder Garten Department, taught by a certificated and thoroughl ly competent teacher. To the best of our knowledge and belief it is the only School of the kind in the Colony possessing this advantage. The difference in intelligence between children who pass through the Kinder-Garten Masses to the Lower Standards and those who, coming to school at a more advanced age, pass into the Standards without any previous training is admittedly marked and sufficiently proven.

(2) The school stands for Higher Education in the Verna- cular, such as shall fit Girl pupils to become competent teachers in all the standards of Elementary Vemacular Schools. It is designed to provide, later, an altemative course or courses, such as Domestic Science, for Girls who do not wish to take the Normal Training.

(3) It is further hoped that the teaching in English, as an extra subject, on modem lines, will enable Girls to pass into the Higher Classes of Schools where English is the medium
